England win thrilling final Test to draw Ashes

England beat Australia by 49 runs to draw the Ashes series 2-2

A thrilling match at Kennington Oval saw England secure a famous victory, with Ben Stokes leading the charge with a brilliant century.

England were chasing a target of 383 runs to win the match and level the series, and they got off to a solid start with openers Rory Burns and Dom Sibley putting on 50 runs for the first wicket. However, Australia fought back with some tight bowling and excellent fielding, and England soon found themselves struggling at 122-4.

Stokes then came to the crease and played a magnificent innings, scoring 107 runs off just 128 balls. He was supported by Jos Buttler, who made 70 runs, and the pair put on a crucial 159-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Australia fought back once again, and with the match in the balance, it was left to Jack Leach to hit the winning runs and seal a famous victory for England.

The win means that England have drawn the Ashes 2-2, and they will now be looking to win the series in the next edition, which will be played in Australia in 2023-24.
